The Nintendo Switch will launch on March 3 with two hotly anticipated indie titles, Nintendo announced in a press release today. The eShop on launch will include Fast RMX and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, with the ability to purchase the newest Shovel Knight expansion, Specter of Torment, separately. That expansion is exclusive to the Switch for a limited time.
Nintendo will host a Nindies Showcase video at noon, eastern time, on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Viewers can watch at live.nintendo.com, and I’m sure the PSVG crew will also be chatting along with the presentation.
Switch owners will also be able to download retail releases (ZELDA!) digitally once they’ve logged on and after a system update. Users who already have funds in their other Nintendo accounts can use them on the Switch.
Nintendo also announced that Virtual Console games will not be available on day one for the Switch. This is not new for Nintendo: Virtual Console did not launch with the 3DS or Wii U, either.
Keep checking PSVG as we get closer to the Switch launch for more coverage.
