PlayStation sends out a regular newsletter, and it seemingly has leaked PS VR support for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II. Information from the Danish version of the newsletter was shared on NeoGAF (in this thread) where the thumbnail for Battlefront II indicates the game is PS VR compatible. You may remember the original Star Wars Battlefront did have an X-Wing mission added after PS VR was released. Most folks enjoyed the experience, but it was quite short and more than anything, left folks wanting for more. It looks like Battlefront II might be trying to deliver that “more”.
This does seem to line up with a recent Eurogamer interview where Matt Webster from Criterion (who is working on the multiplayer aspects of Battlefront II), when asked about VR support, said “We are not talking about VR at the moment for Battlefront 2. That’s a story for another day…” It is an excellent interview so I recommend you check out the entire chat over at Eurogamer.
While this is all speculation at this point, I would love to see PS VR support in Battlefront II. With E3 right around the corner, that seems like the ideal opportunity for Sony and EA to reveal it to the world. For the end of 2017, Xbox has Scorpio and Nintendo will be riding the Switch wave with Mario. For PlayStation to compete this Holiday the games will need to be there, and for me, this would a step in the right direction.
In the meantime, watch the Battlefront II trailer below!
