The PlayStation releases this week are dominated by sequels to two games that launched to middling reviews in the first year of the PS4’s life cycle. While Destiny has proven to have a long tail, Knack was largely forgettable to many. Now both games are back and bigger than ever. Also this week, the PSN picks will take a look at some of the sales available in the PSN store.
The Tower has fallen. Light from the Traveller has been extinguished. Now it’s up to you and your fellow Guardians (PSVGuardians?) to protect what remains of civilization from impending doom. The sequel promises to tell a more focused story, while expanding side missions and activities. Destiny 2 appears to deliver on much of the promise from the original game, and many here at PSVG are excited to dive in.
The first Knack suffered from issues with pacing, difficulty spikes, a weird voice for the player-character and an overall sheen of blandness. But the game has promise that a few here at PSVG (including yours truly) hopes that it can capitalize on in the sequel. The co-op gameplay looks more engaging, with a second full-size Knack available for destruction. Ultimately, Knack 2 gives the PS4 a kid-friendly platformer at a budget price of $40.
Playstation Weekly Sales
While there are a few other new games out this week, I wanted to highlight PSN’s weekly sale, which is highlighted by a Bandai Namco sale and a Farming Simulator sale this week. Here are a few of my highlights for the week:
- Dark Souls III ($23.99 or $42.49 for complete edition, PS4)

This week, I’m gaming Madden 18, Destiny 2, Mages of Mystralia and the NBA 2K18 Prelude (available Friday). What are you playing?
