Low-key? This is a pretty cool week on the PSN. The biggest release in terms of sales will undoubtedly be EA Sports’ FIFA 18, which features the Frostbite Engine for the second year, along with the story of Alex Hunter. (Though, personally, if I’m picking up FIFA this year, it’ll be on the Switch – soccer on the go!) Another huge release this week is Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Also this week is the Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition, Gundam Versus, Hob and Steamworld Dig 2 are all out this week. So, what am I downloading this week? (Or, more accurately: looking longingly at from afar while I continue playing Destiny 2 and NBA 2K18).

Take a look here at the full drop of games, via the PlayStation Blog.

SteamWorld Dig 2

I fully slept on the SteamWorld games until earlier this year when I nabbed the original SteamWorld Dig and Heist on the cheap on the Nintendo 3DS, and I immediately fell in love thanks to the semi-Western feel and robots. Heist in-particular, gave me a strong Firefly vibe (the canceled-too-soon space western) and amazing turn-based combat. SteamWorld Dig 2 takes its predecessor’s 2D exploratory Metroidvania platforming and expands upon it exponentially, with handcrafted environments and a new lead character.

In Dig 2, players take control of the robot Dorothy, who digs through the ground to discover the source of the mysterious earthquakes plaguing her town. I’m super exciting to…ahem…dig into this one.

Fortnite Battle Royale
There’s something exciting about being dropped into a crazy situation and trying to survive as long as you can against fellow humans. It’s a simple concept that has been around forever, and in recent years with the Hunger Games and Battle Royale books and movies, in-particular.

In Fortnite‘s take on the burgeoning Battle Royale genre, players are dropped onto a map in a 100-player battle where the last one alive wins. Throughout, you need to search and scavenge for weapons and supplies, destroy cover, drop traps and build forts. I’ve not tried the core Fortnite experience, but the mere idea of Battle Royale is enticing. (It doesn’t hurt that it’s also a free download). I know a few PSVG staffers are interested in trying this one out, so you might catch us in battle (if you don’t find us on Destiny 2 first).

Playstation Weekly Sales
This week’s PlayStation sales are objectively pretty great. This week brings us some new PlayStation Plus specials, a sale on Call of Duty games and a Last of Us Outbreak Day sale (that includes a brand new, free theme available at this link). With such a great list to choose from, what should you nab on the cheap this week on PS4?

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered ($31.99, regularly $39.99)
