A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I preordered the follow-up to 2015’s gorgeous but slim Star Wars Battlefront. The sequel includes a long-asked-for single-player campaign and robust multiplayer that spans every era of the Star Wars saga. However, following the game’s beta and the uproar surrounding loot boxes, pay-to-win and the overall cost of heroes, I cancelled my preorder. Cost-balancing has been adjusted quite a bit since the beta, but many have lost their interest in the game. Yet, Battlefront II looks absolutely gorgeous and should be a fine companion to The Last Jedi coming in December. So what else is coming over to the PSN this week?

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

I have no clue who Kang the Conquerer is, but the sequel to one of my favorite Lego games thus far pits your favorite Marvel heroes against the villain. Alongside the first Knack, the first Lego Marvel Super Heroes game was my daughter’s first console gaming experience, as we ran through the world in co-op. While that mostly consisted of me fighting off all the bad guys while she ran around willy-nilly, it was still one of my favorite gaming experiences with my kids. She also discovered her favorite superhero: Iron Man, solely because he can fly.

L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire pioneered a groundbreaking facial technology when it was released during the PS3 generation. I played the original and enjoyed it, though never actually beat it. I just ran out of gas in the middle of the game, as missions blurred together.

The Sims 4

I loved the Sim games when I was growing up. I had Sim City, Sim Golf and Sim Ant. I loved other similar games, like Theme Park and RTS games like Age of Empires. So when the first Sims came out, with the chance to control your person, get jobs, build families and more, I lost many hours in the world. I’m not sure how the game actually translates to console, but I did want to show some love for the full game coming to PS4 this week.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Have already covered in my intro, but this is easily the biggest game out this week. Here’s the PS Blog’s write-up:

“Embark on an endless Star Wars action experience from the bestselling franchise. Rush through waves of enemies on Starkiller Base. Line up your X-wing squadron from an attack on a mammoth First Order Star Destroyer in space. Or rise as a new hero — Iden, an elite Imperial special forces soldier — and discover an emotional and gripping single-player story spanning thirty years.”

As of this publishing, the PSN sales aren’t showing anything this week, though there are a few things showing in the “all deals” section. This week, I’m gaming Super Mario Odyssey, Destiny 2 and F1 2017.
