Today’s Nintendo Direct is 41 minutes in length covering Wii U and 3DS Updates planned through summer 2016.

  • Bill Trinen kicks us off by introducing Miyamoto to talk about Star Fox Zero. Miyamoto says it is set to be an authentic action game and that the more you play, the more you’ll learn.
    • Star Fox now features alternate paths and warp points.
    • Star Fox themed spin-off Star Fox Guard, formerly known as Project Guard, is complete and will launch physically with Star Fox Zero on April 22.

Here’s what has to say about Star Fox Guard;

Players set up 12 cameras to find and defeat enemies who are attacking the mining site of Slippy Toad’s uncle, Grippy Toad. The game includes about 100 stages, but players can also create their own stages by editing the placement of enemies and uploading their levels online. The only way to get the physical version of Star Fox Guard is by purchasing the packaged version of Star Fox Zero. The game can also be purchased by itself from Nintendo eShop for $14.99. Customers that purchase the digital version of either Star Fox Zero or Star Fox Guard will receive a $4.99 Nintendo eShop discount toward the other game.

  • Splatoon getting two updates, the first arrives on 3/8 and balances gear and updates the matchmaking system. 2nd update will feature new combination sets with more info to come at
  • Mario v. Sonic launches on 3DS on 3/18 – Wii U version coming on June 24th.
  • Super Mario Maker getting an update to feature skewers, keys, and key doors. The update also adds the intense Super Expert mode to the 100-Mario Challenge. You can hide keys in boxes or have enemies hold them, forcing a boss battle. Update available 3/9
  • The Fire Emblem/SMT Wii U exclusive has been titled Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE coming on 6/24. Deep RPG  gameplay you expect from an Atlus game with all the fun aspects of a pop-concert.
  • Bandai Namco’s Lost Reavers  has a Beta Version coming April 14th and a full release for April 28th. Fight zombies & solve puzzles to collect treasure in this “Free to Play” multiplayer game.
  • The Paper Mario rumors are true! Paper Mario Color Splash coming to Wii U “later in 2016”
    • Theme is colors and paint.
    • Takes place on PrismIsland where something is being drained of its color. Its up to Paper Mario to bring color back with his trusty color hammer that splashes paint.



  • Pokken Tournament & Twilight Princess given a few minutes to discuss features and new additions. Earning points in Pokken Tournament allows a users to alter their player character.

  • Hyrule Warriors getting Season Pass that covers four DLC packs available on launch. Purchasing the Season Pass will get an bonus costume for Ganondorf New character announced, Medli joins the fray on both 3DS and Wii U for free when the first DLC pack is released in 2016. Buying Hyrule Warriors Legends physically will also come with a free code for a 3DS theme & a transfer code for Linkle, Skull Kid, Tetra, King Daphnes, and Toon Link on the Wii U version.


  • Disney Art Academy announced (again previous rumor confirmed).
  • Bravely Second getting a Demo on March 10th, demo features a self-contained story & bonuses earned in the demo can be transferred to the full game which arrives on April 15th.
  • Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past launches for 3DS later in 2016. New translation, models, artwork.
  • Monster Hunter X (in Japan) coming Stateside as Monster Hunter Generations, features Marth costume set. Monster Hunter 4 save data nets players bonus data. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is on sale for $19.99 for the next 48 hours! #GO
  • Metroid Prime Federation Force is now up! Kensuke Tanabe introduced to explain that the idea for Metroid Prime Federation Force has been in the works since the DSi but performance limited development. Multi-Player team based shooter with weight limits and role playing aspects. Story / narrative trailer shown. Game will be at Wondercon and releases late Spring. Metroid Prime Federation Force will include Samus Aran cameo.


  • Rhythm Heaven MegaMix coming in 2016 to Nintendo 3DS! The collection will include three Rhythm Heaven games, including Rhythm Heaven for Game Boy Advance.
  • A new Kirby game announced! Kirby Planet RoboBot – Kirby now has Robobot Armor with more than 10 modes and upgrades. Amiibo compatibility to give Kirby Nintendo character abilities. Kirby based amiibo series announced featuring Kirby, Meta Knight, DeDeDe, and Wadle Dee    comes on June 10th.
